The Ecuadorian islands of Galápagos are among the world's most unique natural sites. Wildlife on the islands, which are located 1,000 kilometres off the coast of South America, served as inspiration for Darwin's theory of evolution in the 19th century. Today, the Galápagos are facing a serious environmental threat.
