Leaders breakfast for innovative solutions to mainstreaming biodiversity into key economic sectors – November 2018

19 August 2019

The Leaders Breakfast was organized by UN Environment Programme in collaboration with the Convention on Biodiversity Secretariat and UNEP-World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC). The breakfast focused on the need to concertize the biodiversity agenda forward by the identification of and adoption of joint solutions that will allow fostering innovation and embracing sustainability. The integration of sustainability and the continued dissemination of information and knowledge, especially to women and youth is necessary.

The issue of fragmentation in environmental multilateral negotiations was stressed, with the need to create green markets, change behavioral patterns, and the importance of maintaining environmental data for enhanced assessments of environmental impacts. Ultimately, the need for Governments, Businesses, and relevant organizations to work more cohesively together is required to move forth in the Business and Biodiversity Forum to foster solutions, address existing issues, and the use of data to improve the management of natural resources will greatly feed into this pivotal exercise.
