Environment & Social Impact – meet Climate Finance Unit's team E&S!

CFU’s ‘Team E&S’ aims to standardise and mainstream risk management and impact monitoring procedures for deforestation-free commodity financing. They support sustainable land-use finance facilities develop their overarching E&S frameworks, including key performance indicator design, monitoring methods and data specifications. The team also assesses individual deals for E&S impact potential against the internal rate of return for each project.

Introducing the one and only Team E&S:

 

Steve Swan – coordinates the work of the E&S team, whilst maintaining his other day job – Safeguards Coordinator for the UN-REDD Programme. Steve has over 20 years’ experience in forest management, governance and financing with a geographical focus on Southeast Asia and Africa.

 

Anahi Rico Chinchilla – has just joined the team as a E&S Monitoring and Reporting Specialist, and will be contributing her knowledge of Remote Sensing and Earth Observations to the monitoring, reporting and demonstration of E&S impact of the various facilities and funds CFU supports.

 

Jonty Knox – technically oversees the work produced by UNEP-WCMC for CFU. Jonty also oversees the Proteus Partnership and the Oil for Development Programme. Jonty brings over a decade’s experience in quantifying the risks and opportunities companies face concerning biodiversity and ecosystem services.

 

Leo Murphy – conducts elements of WCMC’s work for CFU, focusing on indicators for business to assess and manage their biodiversity impacts and risks, as well as environmental sensitivity mapping in relation to development. Leo has experience as an environmental consultant in Southeast Asia.
