This report is a terminal evaluation of a UNEP/UNDP GEF project implemented between 2005 and 2009. The project's objective was to increase capacity for management of wetlands in both government and non-governmental agencies in southern Africa through generation of new knowledge on wetland functioning, and development of sustainable land management options for wetlands. The evaluation set to find whether the project was able to enhance information available to decision makers to enable the development of policies supportive to the sustainable management of wetlands; generate generic guidelines for sustainable management of wetlands; demonstrate innovative interventions in wetland management; and enhanced capacity and awareness on the need to improve the management of southern African wetlands.
