Become a part of the resource revolution

Our crowded planet and its globalizing economy face a worldwide resource challenge. To survive in the long term, businesses will need to innovate and take on the challenge of decoupling economic growth from environmental degradation.

It is for this reason that the World Resources Forum, with the support of the International Resource Panel and the United Nations Environment Programme, has developed The Resource Revolution Trainer, an open online self-training course for business managers on global resource consumption and scarcity.

The course content is applicable to any business sector worldwide. It turns the latest science from the International Resource Panel into practical and cutting-edge ideas for business strategies and technology innovations, to radically improve resource productivity. As noted by John Elkington, a world-leading expert in the field, the course “will help managers worldwide to come to grips with the underlying science and translate it into effective action across their business”.

Managers can complete the course – which is made up of six modules – at their own pace. Each session has a video presentation that covers key concepts, as well as reading materials with expanded text, exercises with questions for discussion, and links to diverse resources for additional information. The sessions also provide examples of the inspirational steps leading companies are taking towards becoming ‘Resource Revolution Enterprises’.

Given the challenges that lie ahead, the World Resources Forum and the International Resource Panel envision a world where influential decision-makers in business and industry, civil society organizations, the scientific community and an empowered public can interact and engage in taking action for a more sustainable use of resources worldwide.
