UNEP Finance Initiative Global Roundtable to be held in Dubai, UAE October 2016

Geneva, 26 August 2016 - On October 25th and 26th, 2016 UNEP Finance Initiative (FI) will hold its 2016 Global Roundtable (GRT) in Dubai, hosted by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE with the support of the Central Bank of the UAE.

Over the years, the GRT has become the key agenda-setting event on sustainable finance, bringing together leaders from the financial world, civil society, academia, government and the United Nations.

The 14th edition of the GRT will build on the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement which were successfully agreed to in 2015. At this crucial gathering of green economy leaders, participants will identify ways for the finance community to become catalysts for sustainable, climate  resilient development.

The 2016 GRT will address some of the most pressing and challenging questions facing the sustainability and finance sectors today, such as:

  • What do the new sustainable development and climate change agendas mean for the finance sector?
  • How can the sector become a driver of sustainable development?
  • How can the transition to sustainability in the financial sector be accelerated?

Participants will leave the GRT 2016 with the knowledge, tools and network to drive change. The GRT will:

  • Offer insights into the role of the global financial sector in addressing the sustainable development and climate change agendas;
  • Foster engagement with policy makers;
  • Stimulate collaboration among stakeholders to make change happen; and
  • Create an international platform for peer to peer learning about sustainability best practices.

Registration, programme, speakers and more are available at http://www.unepfi.org/grt/2016/.
