UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative Regional Roundtable: 17 October 08.00 – 18.00, at the Centre International de Conférences Genève (CICG Geneva)

Sustainable finance leaders will meet in Geneva for UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative’s first Regional Roundtable to address the priorities of Europe-based banks, insurers and investors on integrating sustainability into financial markets.

The roundtable will explore how financial institutions can increase their resilience and generate economic growth through leading-edge responsible business opportunities while helping achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Experts will share best practices in integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues in lending, insurance and investment; discuss innovation in financing the SDGs; and assess sustainable insurance market developments. Participants will find out more about energy efficiency financing; the shift towards integrative approaches to human rights; advances in evaluating environmental-related financial risks; and related policy developments.

Participants will discuss the next steps to advance sustainable finance at a European level, including the implications of initiatives such as the European Commission’s High-level Expert Group on Sustainable Finance (HLEG) and implementation by European financial institutions of the Financial Stability Board’s Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations.
