QUITO, ECUADOR, 31 October 2018.—Thirty-one experts including officials from 9 Caribbean governments gathered in this Andean capital to identify opportunities and forge cooperation for promoting energy efficient cooling equipment in their countries and region. The catalyst for the gathering was the recent agreement of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on Substances the Deplete the Ozone Layer.

JOHANNESBURG, 26 October 2018 - National Ozone and Customs Officers from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region (Africa Anglophone Network) gathered at the Birchwood Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa from 24-26 October 2018, for a three-day Twinning Workshop and Border Dialogues. The workshop was organised by UN Environment OzonAction in collaboration with the Government of South Africa.

BANGKOK, 19 October 2018 – Twenty-six Ozone and Customs Officers from nine countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia Networks attended a Twinning Workshop and back to back Parallel Border Dialogues, which was organised by UN Environment OzonAction from 17-19 October 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.

European and Central Asian countries, the Ozone Secretariat and implementing agencies of the Montreal Protocol met in Antalya to share information and lessons learned from their efforts to reduce the use of ozone-depleting and global warming chemicals.

BANGKOK, 29 September 2018 — Following a successful training of new National Ozone Officers from the Pacific Island Countries, UN Environment OzonAction organized a similar training for Ozone Officers from South Asia and South East Asia. The two-day training, also conducted in Bangkok, Thailand was held from 28-29 September 2018.

BANGKOK, 29 September 2018 - The first Thematic Meeting on the Implementation of the Initial Obligations for Countries that have Ratified the Montreal Protocol’s Kigali Amendment was held on 27 September 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand as part of the Pacific Islands Countries’ National Ozone Officers Network and Thematic Meeting held from 27-29 September.

PARIS, FRANCE, 17 July 2018 — The Second International Stakeholders Workshop on the Refrigeration Servicing Sector (RSS), was held in Paris, France from 17 to18 July 2018. The workshop, organised by UN Environment’s OzonAction, has brought together international refrigeration and air-conditioning associations and experts, delegates from the Multilateral Fund, Bilateral and Implementing Agencies, , including officials from UN Environment’s OzonAction regional offices.  

GUATEMALA CITY, GUATEMALA, 28 June 2018 - The third in the series of Twinning Workshops on Energy - Efficient and Climate-Friendly Refrigeration and Air Conditioning concluded in Guatemala City today. The workshop brought together two traditionally separate  communities from the countries of Central and South America – those responsible for managing compliance with the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, and those responsible for national energy policies.

GABORONE, BOTSWANA, 25 May 2018 — The first regional workshop in Africa for promoting energy-efficient cooling took place in the capital of Botswana under a unique initiative that is “twinning” government officials together in the common cause of climate protection. The workshop brought together two traditionally separate communities – those responsible for managing compliance with the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, and those who craft national energy policies.

The UN Environment OzonAction’s Compliance Assistance Programme, Asia and the Pacific Office, organized a thematic meeting on "Risk Profiling for Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) Trade" for Customs and Border Control Officers and National Ozone Officers of India, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The meeting took place from 20-22 June 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.

VALENCIA, SPAIN, 20 June 2018 – Refrigerant Literacy and Real Alternatives online courses to strengthen the knowledge of ozone officers and managers of refrigeration associations from Europe and Central Asian countries Participants of the annual meeting of the Regional Ozone Network for Europe and Central Asia (ECA network) in Valencia, which took place in parallel to the 13th Gustaf Lorentzen Conference on Natural Refrigerants, were invited to complete at least one of the online courses on refrigerant management and technology options.

KINGSTOWN, SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENDADINES, 1 June 2018 — UN Environment’s OzonAction in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning, Sustainable Development and Information Technology of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, hosted the Thematic Network Meeting of National Ozone Officers of the English-speaking Caribbean and Haiti from 30th May to 1st June 2018, in Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
