Green frontiers

In Disasters & conflicts

To inspire young people in the Ogoni region to take positive action to conserve the environment, UN Environment has introduced a school programme called Green Frontiers. This environmental education initiative is being implemented in conjunction with the Rivers State Government and builds on UN Environment’s ongoing outreach and capacity building efforts.

Initially, eight schools in Ogoniland were involved in a pilot phase. So far, around 650 students have decided to become Green Frontiers Club members. Tertiary level students are also invited to participate.

Hands-on Green Frontiers club activities include taking part in sanitation days and tree planting.
