UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration – a dialogue on restoration approaches and commitments in East Africa

UN Environment is on 13 May 2019 from 14:00 – 16:00 at the UN Headquarters, Nairobi, organizing a 2-hour digital panel discussion with the theme UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2030. This event is part of the Global Landscapes Forum event ‘Kyoto Digital Edition’. The GLF event will be among a series of events happening around the world all streamed live, starting with an event in Kyoto at the IPCC meeting with excepted audience of 10,000+

The event will aim for increased awareness of the importance of restoring ecosystems in order to restore healthy and sustainable ecosystems for today and the future. Visual presentation tools will be used to enhance presentations, and active audience participation will be facilitated, including of the online audience

Key messages:

• Messaging on the UN Decade with its significant sustainable development benefits, will be building momentum to strengthen ambition. 
• Concrete examples are shared of how restoration has an impact on the ground, including in Kenya.
