UN Environment and Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection co-organized a Workshop on China-Africa Cooperation on the Elimination of Lead Paint in Beijing, China on 24 March 2017. This workshop was held as a part of UN Environment's project, funded by the Government of China, to work towards the phasing out the use of lead in paint in China and Africa. The project includes the analysis of Chinese paint market, analysis of lead in paint samples in China, information exchange with African countries, awareness raising activities, review of national regulations and standards, and the development of proposals for further action to eliminate lead paint. Representatives from Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia and Tanzania were invited, as well as Chinese representatives from ministries, research organizations and industry.
