Online MedOpen Advanced training on Climate Variability and Change available in May

An online training session on Climate Variability and Change (CV&C) is being prepared by PAP/RACin the framework of the project "Integration of Climate Variability and Change into National Strategies to implement the ICZM Protocol in the Mediterranean" - the ClimVar & ICZM project (complementary to the GEF/UNEP/World Bank Strategic Partnership for the Mediterranean Sea Large Marine Ecosystem - the MedPartnership).

In addition to raising awareness and improving knowledge of CV&C aspects in the Mediterranean, the aim of the session is to enhance policy dialogue and build/improve capacities on implications of CV&C considerations, the ICZM Protocol, and other related national policies.

The target users are: decision makers (at the local, national, regional, and international level), policy advisors, project managers, teams and experts of international organizations and institutions, academic researchers, students, and all others interested in CV&C issues. The training session is in particular intended for the GEF eligible countries in which the Project is being carried out, namely: Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Montenegro, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey (The Palestinian Authority also participates).

The CV&C training will be accessible through the PAP/RAC MedOpen virtual training course and will include two modules. The Basic module, with open participation and continuous accessibility, will provide elementary information on CV&C issues. The Advanced module will be available only upon subscription for a duration of four weeks, i.e. 4-31 May 2015. The deadline for applications is 20 March 2015.
