OBJECTIVE: To orient new and existing users on how to access, use and update the Caribbean Marine Protected Area Management (CaMPAM) geospatial database.

TARGET AUDIENCES: Managers of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Caribbean region, marine spatial planners, researchers and the members of the MPA community in general.

CaMPAM network was established in 1997 with the purpose to improve management of marine protected areas through structured and consistent information sharing, training events, learning exchanges, and technical support. The one-hour training session is free of charge for all participants and will cover the following topics:

  • Overview of the CaMPAM database
  • Brief description of open source tools used for the interactive map (QGIS-QGIS Cloud)
  • What is in the map? (details on the geospatial database)
  • Exploring map tools (measurements, address search, symbology)
  • Displaying MPA data
  • How to download the database
  • How to update and add data on a Marine Protected Area

Upon completion of the webinar, you will receive a short assessment to provide feedback.
