Share the Road, supported by the FIA Foundation co-organised an innovative training and networking event in Nairobi on the 3rd-7th April 2017. The event, in collaboration with the Stockholm Environment Institute and the University of York, explored creative methods that promote greater inclusion and participation in decision-making to bring about more inclusive urban transport.
The workshop brought together local organisations working on transport issues to explore the usefulness of creative methods to respond to local transport challenges and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It included around 40 stakeholders from different sectors across East Africa including: creative individuals and organisations, transport planners and providers, local council and municipal government (e.g. urban planning), Government ministries, NGOs and civil society organisations, and academia.
Key partners will now explore how the tools and methods developed in the workshop can be used on the ground in East Africa and beyond.
