Supporting ocean literacy in the Mediterranean

Ocean literacy will be the focus of the Mediterranean online workshop, which will take place on Coast Day (25 September 2020) at 14:00 - 16:30 CEST.

Co-organized and facilitated by ACTeon (coordinator of the EU4Ocean coalition), the UNEP/MAP-Barcelona Convention system, with the Regional Activity Centres Plan Bleu (PB/RAC) and Priority Actions Programme (PAP/RAC) as co-organizers, EMSEA Med and the BlueMed initiative, the online workshop provides an opportunity to build promising ocean literacy actions in a participatory and inclusive manner.

The workshop is organized as part of the EU4Ocean Coalition for Ocean Literacy. Further information on EU4Ocean is available here.

The discussion will focus on delivering more effective ocean literacy pertaining to the sustainable management of marine ecosystems in the Mediterranean. The expected outcomes of the workshop are:

  • concepts for collective initiatives;
  • core groups of organizations willing to partner and turn concepts into action;
  • the building blocks of a road map for implementation.
