In Mauritius, there is little clarity regarding the market opportunities for green products and the standards, inputs and expertise required for such products. There is a need to raise awareness and facilitate the sharing of best practices, opportunities and challenges for green business.

In the tourism sector, the Mauritius Tourism Authority has developed a scheme that specifies the criteria that tourism operators must meet to obtain an eco-label. The response has been poor, however, as operators do not yet see the standard as a marketing tool, indicating a need to increase awareness of standards and labels and the benefits they provide.

To address such issues, the networking facility offers activities that allow stakeholders in the country to communicate and share experiences and best practices and that allow for the knowledge gained from project implementation to be distilled for application in upscaling and replication and the relevant policies to be taken up by a wide range of government actors.
