Learning from Experience The UNEP-GEF project for Capacity Building for Effective Participation in the Biosafety Clearing-House has been enabling countries to successfully meet their obligations as Parties to the Protocol by building capacity and helping to set-up national systems for BCH participation since 2004.
This paper addresses many of the issues that arise from the use of Genetic modification techniques that allow new living modified organisms to be produced which have characteristics that have not necessarily been found before. Genes are copied from organisms that are unrelated to those into which they are inserted.
