This report is a terminal evaluation of a UNEP project implemented between 2004 and 2006. The project's overall objective was to reduce the fuel wood consumption by the rural poor, leading to improvement in human health and reduced pressure on local forests. The objective of the evaluation was to assess the extent to which the goals and expected objectives of the CREED project have been achieved in an efficient and effective manner, and to provide recommendations and lessons from program implementation to help replicate or design new projects in the future.
