This report is a terminal evaluation of a UNEP-GEF project implemented between 2005 and 2010.The long-term development objective of the project was to contribute to the environmentally sustainable management and development of the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region by reducing land-based activities that harm rivers, estuaries and coastal waters and their biological resources. The purpose of the terminal evaluation was to examine the extent and magnitude of any project impacts to date and determine the likelihood of future impacts. The evaluation provided an assessment of project performance and the implementation of planned project activities and planned outputs against actual results.
