The mission of UN Environment’s West Asia Office is to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples in the West Asia region to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.
Our major function is to coordinate UN Environment’s programme of work in the region. This means that we act as the link between the countries in the region and UN Environment’s various units and centers. We also promote collaboration and partnerships with organizations active in sustainable development in West Asia.
The regional office is located in Bahrain and has a complement of experts who advise on environmental machinery and technical requirements, review project proposals, and recommend action by governments and other organizations.
