"Anybody home?" I asked when I knocked on the door during a household survey in a rural community in Northwest China back in 2007. A woman came out and answered, "No!" That's how I started a career in gender mainstreaming.
Currently a Programme Officer on Gender in UN Environment, based in Nairobi, Kenya, and previously holding the same position in the World Food Programme in Rome, Italy, I have been working to strengthen gender equality in projects and policies. From Ethiopia to Panama, from Sudan to Chad, from Japan to France, I have been enjoying my work to build staff capacity, design gender indicators and conduct gender assessment. It's a very satisfying job that makes me smile from the heart!
