NOWPAP virtually participated in the 15th East Asian Seas Partnership Council Meeting, organized by the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA) on the 26th and 27th of July 2023, in a hybrid format. The primary agenda of this gathering encompassed discussions regarding formulating a comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation Plan for the 2023-2027 Implementation Plan of the Sustainable Development Strategy for the Seas of East Asia. Moreover, the meeting deliberated on strategies to bolster the sustainability of PEMSEA, as well as the preparatory measures for the East Asian Sea Congress 2024.
The NOWPAP representative updated the participants on the ongoing institutional analysis of NOWPAP, the results of an assessment of the modus oprandi operations of the Individual Regional Activity Centers (RACs), and the preparation of the mid-term strategy for 2024 to 2029. During the session, the chairperson emphasized NOWPAP's record in producing scientifically robust reports of exceptional quality. PEMSEA expressed the intention to foster and expand the existing collaboration with NOWPAP, exemplifying the shared commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and environmental stewardship.
