Second Phase of Yellow Sea Large Marine Ecosystem Project Launched

NOWPAP participated in the launch of the Second Phase of the Yellow Sea Large Marine Ecosystem (YSLME) Project in Seoul in July. The Inception Ceremony of the Second Phase of the Project, which is funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the First Meeting of the Project’s Management, Science and Technical Panel and the First Meeting of the Interim Commission Council (ICC), took place in the Republic of Korea’s capital during 11-13 July. Hosted by the Government of the Republic of Korea, the meetings were attended by representatives of national and local governments from the Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of China, UNDP, the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and NOWPAP, among others. Participants agreed to work closely with NOWPAP on its marine litter and harmful algal bloom-related activities. The First ICC Meeting approved the revised terms of reference (TORs) of the ICC and its Subsidiary Bodies, the ICC Rules of Procedure and TORs of Secretariat staff.  Taken by Mr. Sanghyeon PARK.
