Sudan: El Mogran

In this video, UN Environment shows how communities in Darfur are at the heart of defining key resource issues and development priorities. In the path to recovery, plannin

g that is community driven promotes healthy relationships because it helps people define their shared needs through processes of consultation – a process that brings people together, creating a space for conversation and connection. It also creates an atmosphere where people all feel they are involved and have the opportunity to benefit. In the end, inter-communities not only have a mutual ownership of their natural resources but continuity in the protection of natural resources is likelier as well. El Morgran is a community that benefitted from the ‘Wadi El Ku Catchment Management Project’. The project has been implemented jointly by UN Environment and Practical Action and is funded by the European Union.
