A thought-provoking seminar on ‘Environmental Protection and Thorium Nuclear Power’ was presented by staff from European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN) on 23 March,2017 at the UN Environment Paris office.
The seminar began with an introduction by Mr. Egil Lillestol addressing global energy problems. His speech was followed by Mr. Maurice Bourquin, who spoke about "Thorium, the forgotten side of Nuclear energy" and gave an overview of the International Thorium Energy Committee (iThEC) and the thorium-fueled Accelerator-Driven System (ADS). The speakers explained how thorium solution has the potential to help the world find a balance between its competing energy, climate change and security objectives.
