Nairobi, 06 December 2017 – The Zayed International Foundation for the Environment is launching a green education platform, and organizing a conference on pollution in partnership with UN Environment, to mark the 100th anniversary of the United Arab Emirates founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
“It is my privilege to announce that the launch of the Zayed Green smart application, an innovative knowledge education smart platform, as part of new initiatives to protect and appreciate our environment and cherish the independent nature of this vital relationship,” said Dr. Meshgan Al Awar, Secretary General of Zayed International Prize for the Environment. "It also highlights the achievements of the late Shaikh Zayed, who lent his glorious name to this prestigious prize."
“The Zayed International Prize for the Environment, launched almost two decades ago by UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is honoured to bear the name of this leader who dedicated his life to environmental protection and sustainable development.”
Al Awar also announced the Dubai International Scientific Conference on Pollution, which will take place in May 2018. The conference will gather key international scientists, experts and practitioners from around the world to debate scientific approaches and innovative solutions to key factors of pollution affecting air quality, oceans, water quality and quantity, soil and biodiversity.
The Conference will also address the challenges of maintaining or improving quality of life while at the same time calling for a change in current policies, science and industrial practices which are inherently contributing to polluting the planet.
The Zayed Foundation is also committed to initiating innovative strategies towards pursuing and promoting its environmental achievements and collaborations to a global audience, she said.
“The Zayed Green Challenge smart app seeks to educate and create awareness on sustainable development ideas and promote lifelong learning for all ages and cross-sections of society to enable them to respond positively to pressing environmental challenges,” Al Awar said.
“The Zayed Green Challenge smart app has several value-added features including prize-winning competitions and the app is available on both iOS & Android platforms.”

The Dubai international Scientific Conference on Pollution is organized under the long-term partnership between Zayed International Foundation for the Environment and UN Environment.
Zayed Green Challenge app is loaded with several value-added features that includes prize winning competitions. This smart app will now select 3 winners monthly. Winners will be rewarded with cash prizes of US$ 100, 50 and 25 respectively. This smart app is available on both iOS & Android platforms.
