Indicators for a Resource Efficient and Green Asia and the Pacific: Toolkit Page

Resource efficiency indicators are a tool that aid policy makers in making informed decisions to support sustainable consumption and production (SCP) and the creation of a Green Economy (GE). A comprehensive database featuring 26 countries in the Asia-Pacific region and 40 years of resource use is now available publicly at:http://uneplive.unep.org The database has been developed as a result of a three-year science-based consultative process mandated by countries in the region and coordinated by UNEP, the CSIRO and the Asia-Pacific Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production (APRSCP), with support from the European Union's SWITCH-Asia Programme.

The first step to resource efficiency is understanding current use. Natural resource use can be rather difficult to visualize-- join host Patchari Raksawong as she helps explain just how resource use in the Asia-Pacific looks with the help of custom animations and live footage filmed for the region. Explore the use of different resources required to garner 1 US$ in different parts of the region and see how current use stacks up (literally)!

SDGs - infographics and analysis

The Indicators for a Resource Efficient and Green Asia Pacific inform and support country progress on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UN Environment has produced 1 page summaries, infographics and SDG snapshots for SWITCH-Asia countries. The summaries present the relevant indicators for SDG targets on Resource Efficiency (Target 12.2), Clean Water and Sanitation (Target 6.4), Affordable and Clean Energy (Target 7.2 and 7.3), Decent Work and Economic Growth (Goal 8), and partnerships (Target 17.11).

UN Environment has produced infographics and SDG snapshots to provide visual support and additional detail to assess country progress and relative position on resource efficiency, material efficiency, energy efficiency and water efficiency.
