Mercure

Mercury is a chemical element that is harmful to human health and the environment.

Many types of human activities have the potential to create mercury pollution. UN Environment is working with governments and other stakeholders to reduce mercury pollution and its negative impacts. UN Environment’s key activities on mercury are detailed on this page.

The Chemicals and Health Branch supports a range of activities on mercury, including: The Minamata convention on mercury, Global mercury partnership, Global mercury assessment, GEF gold, Mercury inventory toolkit and Global mercury monitoring

The second meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Minamata Convention on Mercury (COP2) will take place from 19 to 23 November 2018 in Geneva, Switzerland.
