The Allen Coral Atlas Webinar

A webinar on the world’s highest resolution map of shallow coral reefs to date, the Allen Coral Atlas, was held on 10 June. This was targeted to Regional Seas coordinators, UNEP Programme Officers and GEF Task managers who have coral reef projects as part of their portfolio. The Atlas was produced by Vulcan, with whom UNEP has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration over the next five years. The atlas aims to support the sustainable management of coral reefs and support coral reef health by supporting real-life conservation applications for example through comprehensive marine spatial planning, more efficient restoration projects, disaster risk reduction, and mitigation of localized stressors by providing timely, high-resolution mapping and monitoring to researchers, governments and conservationists. Watch recording here
