Description

Governing Council decision 27/2 established a subcommittee of the Committee of Permanent Representatives that would meet annually for a period of five days to review the medium-term strategy and programme of work and budget, in a manner coherent with the budgetary cycle of the United Nations and to oversee their implementation and accountability by the Secretariat.

In addition, the 2017 UN Environment Assembly (4 – 6 December, 2017) will take place at UN Environment headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya under the overarching theme of Pollution. The Assembly, which represents the world’s highest-level decision-making body on the environment, will culminate in resolutions and a global call to action to address the critical environmental challenges facing the world today.

From 6 – 9 March, 2017 the members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives will convene in Nairobi, Kenya for the Fourth Annual Sub-committee meeting which will address the following issues;

  • Budget and Programme Performance including implementation of the Assembly’s resolutions;
  • Contribution of the United Nations Environment Assembly to the High Level Political Forum;
  • Preparations for the third session of the United Nations Environment Assembly;
  • 138th Meeting of the Committee Permanent Representatives.

The Secretariat encourages the participation of delegations from non-resident Member States and has set up a web platform for virtual participation.
