The work of the Share the Road Programme is supported by a host of partners who are as committed to investing in pedestrians and cyclists as much as we are and have the commitment to make our programme a success. Our partnership arrangements include joint research and events, formal partnerships and technical assistance.
The FIA Foundation is an independent UK registered charity which manages and supports an international programme of activities promoting road safety, environmental protection and sustainable mobility, as well as funding specialist motor sport safety research. The FIA Foundation is the major donor for the Share the Road Programme.
Inter-American Development Bank
The Inter-American Development Bank works to improve lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. Through financial and technical support for countries working to reduce poverty and inequality, the Bank helps to improve health and education, and advance infrastructure. The bank is supporting development of the Latin American & Caribbean Toolkit for Safe Routes to Schools.
The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP)
The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) provides technical transport and planning expertise to local authorities in cities around the world. ITDP promotes transport solutions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution, while improving urban livability and economic opportunity. Their projects inspire cities towards more environmentally and people-friendly transportation. ITDP is providing technical assistance for Share the Road projects in Nigeria, Zambia, Ghana and Ethiopia. ITDP are also part of the project team, along with Share the Road and UCT to develop the Africa toolkit for child health and mobility.
University of Cape Town (UCT) aspires to become a premier academic meeting point between South Africa, the rest of Africa and the world. Taking advantage of their expanding global networks and distinct vantage point in Africa, they are committed, through innovative research and scholarship, to grapple with the key issues of their natural and social worlds. UCT is currently working with Share the Road and ITDP to develop the Africa toolkit for child health and mobility.
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the United Nations agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. UN Habitat and UN Environment co-ordinate their work on urban mobility.
World Resources Institute (WRI) is a global research organization that spans more than 50 countries, with offices in Brazil, China, Europe, India, Indonesia, Mexico and the United States. They have more than 450 experts and staff that work closely with world leaders to turn big ideas into action to sustain our natural resources - the foundation of economic opportunity and human well-being.
WRI has partnered with Share the Road to assist cities in Brazil to develop policies, which promote investment in non-motorized transport (NMT) infrastructure. In order to achieve this, WRI Brasil is providing technical assistance to develop an Active Mobility Plan for Brasilia.
WRI Mexico is undertaking stakeholder engagements and capacity building at national and local levels and development for NMT policies for two cities in Mexico.
