Investing in UN Environment means investing in the leading global authority on the environment. Since 1972, we are a powerful advocate, setting the global environmental agenda, promoting partnerships, providing leadership and delivering scientific solutions on some of the most urgent challenges facing the planet and humankind. Our ambition is to inform, enable and inspire nations and peoples to improve their quality of life – without compromising that of future generations.
We bring people together and provide multiple platforms for inquiry, discussions and decisions on the environment, not least the world’s highest-level environmental decision-making body – the UN Environment Assembly that meets biannually in Nairobi.
We aim to be globally coherent and regionally responsive. Supporting countries in their efforts to balance the environmental, economic and social dimensions of sustainable development, we have categorized our work into seven broad thematic areas: climate change, disasters and conflicts, ecosystem management, environmental governance, chemicals and waste, resource efficiency, and environment under review.
We also host the secretariats of many critical multilateral environmental agreements and research bodies, bringing together nations and the environmental community to tackle the greatest challenges of our time.
We are a trusted partner, committed to efficiency and effectiveness to ensure best value for money for taxpayers, funding partners and investors.
