100% recycled plastic dhow to set sail for 500km expedition along the East African coast.

To raise awareness for the more than 12m tonnes of plastic being in dumped in the ocean every year, Kenya’s Flipflopi is embarking on a 500km voyage from Lamu Island along the coast of Kenya before crossing into northern Tanzania, with its final stop in Stone Town, Zanzibar. Along the way, the Flipflopi will organise beach clean-ups with local partners schools, communities and government officials, plus visiting a number of marine conservation and plastic recycling initiatives. The voyage will take between 12 and 14 days.

Journalists are invited to attend a press conference introducing the upcoming expedition January 22nd 11.00-12.30, at the Intercontinental Hotel, Nairobi.
